Patio Black Spot Remover can also be used on precast paving slabs such as Cambridge Pavingstones, Ledgestone, Timber Stone and many more.  

The advanced formula penetrates deep into the stone, breaking down stubborn organic stains that become embedded beneath the surface over time. Pressure washing alone can't remove these deep-rooted stains and using excessive pressure can damage the surface of the stone. The Patio Black Spot Remover does the hard work first, allowing you to achieve better results with a light pressure wash after just a two-hour dwell time.

Coverage

Each 1-gallon (4-liter) container covers approximately 215 sq. ft. (20 m²).

Patio Black Spot Remover is ready to use straight from the container. Do not dilute.

Coverage is based on patios approximately three years old. Older or heavily stained surfaces may require additional treatments. We always recommend testing a small area first.

How to Use Patio Black Spot Remover?

What You'll Need

• A 5–7 liter (1½–2 gallon) pump-up garden sprayer
• A pressure washer
  
  We recommend wearing old clothing and waterproof boots or protective footwear to avoid the product coming into contact with your skin.

Step 1 – Test a Small Area

Before treating the entire surface, apply Patio Black Spot Remover to a small, inconspicuous test area approximately 3 ft. × 3 ft. Allow the product to work and confirm you're happy with the results before continuing.

Step 2 – Apply the Product

Using a pump sprayer, thoroughly saturate the patio or stone surface with Patio Black Spot Remover.

Step 3 – Let It Work

Leave the product on the surface for approximately 2 hours.

As it works, Patio Black Spot Remover penetrates the surface and breaks down stains caused by black spot lichen, algae, mold, moss, dirt, bird droppings, berry stains, and other organic buildup. You may notice a color change after around 10 minutes as the cleaner begins working.

Step 4 – Pressure Wash

Rinse the treated area using a pressure washer to remove the loosened buildup and reveal the restored natural appearance of your patio. Once the area has been pressure washed, any moss will also be removed.

Step 5 – Re-Treat the Surface

Patios older than five years or surfaces with heavy black spot staining may require additional treatments. Continue to treat the test area so you can see the result that's achievable before cleaning the entire patio.

How Do I Maintain My Patio?

To keep your patio looking its best:

• Sweep away leaves and organic debris regularly.
• Clean new algae or organic staining before it becomes established.
• Avoid applying sealers, as they can alter the stone's natural appearance or make future cleaning more difficult. Sealers will not prevent your patio from becoming dirty or stop the growth of algae, black spot lichen, or moss.

Does it remove algae? 

Yes, it will remove algae within 10 minutes of application.

Do I still need to pressure wash?

Yes. You’ll see the product does the cleaning for you but the pressure washer is required to remove any dirt that remains on the surface. Pressure washing is 2-3 times faster using this product.

What if I don’t have a pressure washer?

You can still use the product as it will do a lot of cleaning for you. However, we recommend renting or borrowing from a neighbour to get the best results.

How long should I leave the product on?

Leave Patio Black Spot Remover on the surface for approximately 2 hours before pressure washing.

How do I apply the product?

Use a 5-7 litre pump-up sprayer to apply the Patio Black Spot Remover. You’ll need this sprayer next year when it comes to using the Preventer.

 Is it safe for pets and plants?

Yes. Once the treated area has been thoroughly rinsed, it is safe for pets to return.

Patio Black Spot Remover is also safe to use around plants when applied directly to stone. Avoid spraying the undiluted product directly onto plants or grass. Once treated and the area has been rinsed, the runoff will not harm surrounding plants or grass.

Can I still use Patio Black Spot Remover when I was told to not use a pressure washer?

Many manufacturers recommend avoiding aggressive pressure washing because excessive pressure can damage natural and manufactured stone surfaces.

Patio Black Spot Remover does the hard work by breaking down dirt and staining. You’ll notice this in just 15 minutes of applying the product. This means you only need to use a light pressure wash to rinse away the loosened debris, helping you achieve a cleaner finish with less risk of damaging your patio.

Should I seal my patio after using Patio Black Spot Remover?

We do not recommend applying a sealer after cleaning. Sealers will not prevent black spot lichen or other organic growth and can alter the natural appearance of your stone.

Instead, we recommend treating your patio with our Patio Black Spot Preventer every 11–12 months. It helps prevent staining caused by black spot lichen, removes green algae staining, and keeps your patio looking clean while preserving the natural color and appearance of the stone.

The Patio Black Spot Remover is quickly and readily biodegradable. The effluent, if washed into soil, flower beds or lawn, will break down rapidly. This product will not affect surrounding lawns or foliage in diluted state. Keep animals and unprotected persons off the treated area until dry.

Ensure product doesn’t come into contact with skin, eyes or respiratory tract. In the event the product does come into direct contact with the body, immediately rinse with water. Ensure this product does not come into contact with fabrics or furnishings.
